ARC Lifeguarding Course - Blended Learning

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to train entry level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to an aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. Upon completion of this course the participant receives a Lifeguard/ First Aid/ CPR / AED Certification that is good for two years.

DATES: MAY 18th & 19th 2024 
TIME: 8am - 6pm
Course Length: Approx. 28 HRS (8hrs Online work/20hrs In-person)

Fees: $275.00

A pre-course screening is required before signing up for course which includes:

Must show proof of age (must be at least 15yrs old)

Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or combination of both but swimming on back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used and there is no time limit.


Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet retrieve a ten pound brick, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the  starting point with the brick.  (Note: Candidate must hold 10 pound brick with both hands and must keep his or her face above the water)  TIMED TEST 1 minute 40 seconds.

Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place hands under armpits.

Upon completing these skills, participant may reserve/ borrow a book and complete all pre-reading assignments. They will also receive an online voucher to complete the online portion of this course.
